More grains, less gains

Trying to get rid of that leftover winter storage and make room for bikini season, fear no more eat grains & have less weight gain. When I say grains, I mean real grains not overly processed genetically modified versions of the real good stuff (foods); you know that kinds that simply nourish your mind, body, and soul.

Think about it, did our ancestors eat anything put in a can or stored in a freezer? Highly doubtful, all their foods were fresh from the farmland and picked right off the land. I’m talking about quiona, fresh rolled oats, brown rice, 100% whole wheat breads and wraps without any additives like high fructose corn syrup and ya know pronounceable ingredients.

Keep grains apart of your diet and you’ll be sure to shed the pounds right off. Moderate exercise is a key component to an overall healthy lifestyle. Of course organic is always a better choice.

Pasta Perfection!

Ciao!

I love my pasta and pasta with a lot of flavor and veggies. Personally, I love whole wheat pasta in any form spaghetti, penne, linguine, etc and it’s healthier for you in case you forgot. I made whole wheat pasta with sauteed spinach and tomatoes. Nomz!

All you need is a 1lb bag of whole wheat penne.

Let it boil until it’s al dente (just right, not too hard, not too soft) You can do a taste test after about 8 minutes.

Chop up tomatoes into smaller pieces and set aside.

Add olive oil to a pan and chopped up garlic cloves on medium heat. Add the spinach and shut the lid. You will notice that the spinach will begin to shrink. Keep mixing it together. Add salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and any other spices you prefer. Then, you can add the tomatoes.

Once the tomatoes get softer, you can shut it off. Add the cooked pasta to the pan and mix thoroughly. (You can also add sauce if you’d like) Serve warm!

Enjoy!

Special thanks to Botticelli foods for the olive oil and pasta sauce.

Time of the month, time to workout

Every woman gets their period; it’s a part of life. Periods can be mentally, emotionally, and physically draining. Get moving and try to satisfy your cravings with healthy foods since the bad stuff ya know chocolate and french fries, will leave you wanting more. That bloated belly, might just stay that way if you eat so unhealthy. Your body needs beans, green vegetables, pineapple, tea, water, whole grains, and yogurt to alleviate the cramps. The healthier you eat, the less cravings you’ll have.

Less carbs, less bloated

Christa Alexis here!

Recently, I’ve been cutting back on carbs including breads & pastas. I have felt satisfied longer, more energetic, and less bloated. My stomach looks flatter than ever! What did I do?

  • Limit carb intake – switch to grains including brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal,  flax flakes, granola
  • Switch to probiotic dairy – kefir, yogurt, dark chocolate with hemp seeds , cacao, chia seeds as topping with sunflower butter
  • Hot foods after every meal – tea & soups
